Mid-Coast Maine is known for its beautiful lighthouses. Since Maine has always been a state dependant on shipping and the sea, lighthouses in Mid-coast Maine are not only a beautiful attraction for visitors and residents, but a necessity to the Maine way of life. There are several lighthouses in the Mid-Coast Maine Area including the Squirrel Point Lighthouse, Doubling Point, Doubling Point Range Lights, Halfway Rock Light Station, Perkins Island Light, Pond Island Light, and the Seguin Island Light Station.

Other Maine Lighthouses include the Halfway Rock Light Station in Casco Bay and the Seguin Island Light Station. The Halfway Rock Light Station is named after its location on Halfway Rock, between Cape Elizabeth and Sebasco Maine. Built of concrete and 76 feet in height, the lighthouse tower and former boathouse are all that remain today. They are currently maintained by the American Lighthouse Foundation and in need of repair. The Seguin Island Light Station, maintained by Friends of Seguin Island Foundation, was constructed in 1795 and also has its place on the National Register of Historic Places. Made of granite, it is the highest elevated lighthouse of the Maine Lighthouses – 186 feet above sea level.
